Matthew Higginbottom, Work Focused Training (Retail)
Coming to TBG has allowed me to improve myself both personally and academically. This course has also made me realise what I want to do for a career and focus on key areas which could help me to obtain this. I actually now feel motivated.
My tutor organized a work placement for me at the local Wilkinsons store for 2 days a week. This is helping me to gain the much needed work experience to add to my CV. The best thing is that I have now found out that my placement has been extended until I finish my course.
The course has given me the ability to modify and improve my CV and covering letter. It’s made me think more about the many different ways in which to apply for jobs. |

James Jones, LEAP
I have learnt a great deal since studying with TBG. Throughout the course I have developed my social, communication and team building skills.
My CV is fantastic now and I know I can do a good covering letter on my own. My confidence has grown for interviews after we learnt things like how to dress, what to take with you, buzz words to use and so on.
I now have my Adult Numeracy Level 1 and am working towards achieving my CSCS card so I can work in the construction industry.
I feel my experience at TBG has made me a better person and helped me to gain the qualifications I need to move on to either a part time apprenticeship whilst I attend college, or get a job. |

Ian Parker, Response to Redundancy
I came to TBG looking for a new direction to take after being made redundant. After discussing with my advisor, it seemed that I could do a Security Training Badge and training for a Construction Card which would help me to gain new work in caretaking or security.
I found it incredibly easy to settle in with the other learners and tutors, who told me that my CV was strong and that I should consider myself a good candidate for work.
I have just been offered a full-time position as a Travelling Merchandiser for Take One Media based in Kent, and I couldn’t be happier! |
