Melissa Traylen, Nail and Beauty
I started at TBG as I wanted to achieve some further qualifications, having left school without the results I really wanted.
I have now completed a City & Guilds qualification in Nail and Beauty and feel proud of what I have achieved. I'm currently expecting my first child and I'm happy I've done this course, as I feel that now I have options available to me after I've had my baby.
Beauty is a great career as it allows a lot of freedom for me to work alongside looking after my child. |

Shirley Doherty, ICT for Beginners
I'm a single parent with a 14 year old son. He suggested I should do a computer course as I had just bought a new computer for my home.
I went down to the Job Centre to find out some information about any available computer courses and they introduced me to TBG.
I came for the induction day and had to sit for a test in English and Maths, of which I was very nervous about. Nevertheless, I was very keen to start with the course.
Now I am on the computer course I've completed ICT Beginners and Word Processing, both of which I've passed. I'm currently doing EQUALS and hope to progress onto further courses such as the ECDL.
I am more confident in using a computer and I am now aiming to gain a job at the end of it all. |

Khanh Tran, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Entry Level 3
I heard about TBG Learning from my advisor at Stockwell Job Centre. I told her that I had no confidence in my English so she advised me to come along to an information session at TBG.
I did an assessment and started an ESOL Entry level 3 course progressing onto a Level 1 Literacy course. Last year I started an Entry level ICT course, which I have now completed. This year I have come back to do my Literacy Level 2 course and a Level 1 New Clait IT course.
I am hoping that my qualifications will improve my chances of finding a good job and not be dependent on government support in the near future, I am going onto complete a book-keeping course at Lambeth College, as I want to become a book-keeper.
