Food Hygiene
This course is for anyone wanting to work in catering, manufacturing or a retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. It's a one day course that covers everything from legislation to storing, temperature control and cleaning.
 
 
Eligibility 
Unemployed for six months or more and in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA). 
                                       
Qualification(s) available
Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) certificate in Food Safety in Catering.
                                                                                                           

Health & Safety
This course covers basic health and safety in any working environment. It's a one day course that covers everything from legislation and risk assessments to lifting and handling, and hazardous substances.

Eligibility 
Unemployed for six months or more and in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA).
Qualification(s) available
Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) certificate in Health and Safety in the Work Place.

New Deal 25+ Basic Skills
This is a 26 week option for New Deal 25+ customers living in Newham. All New Deal customers work towards a basic skills qualification in Literacy, Numeracy or English for Speakers of Other languages (ESOL). There is also the opportunity to gain work experience with various employers, attend educational trips and to improve employability skills. New Deal customers are required to attend 30 hours per week (some exceptions for lone parents).

Eligibility 
Unemployed for six months or more and in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA).
Qualification(s) available
- Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life
- Speaking and Listening or Reading and
  Writing.

New Deal 25+ IAP
This is a 13 week option for New Deal 25+ customers living in Newham. New Deal customers have the opportunity to gain work experience with various employers and also to improve their employability skills. New Deal customers are required to attend 30 hours per week (some exceptions for lone parents). The main aim of this programme is to improve English and secure employment.

- City & Guilds certificate in Adult Literacy
