TBG Learning Opens its Doors to Help Swindon's Unemployed
In such difficult economic times many young people and adults continue to find it challenging to engage with employers and find long term employment. Friday 18 November saw Robert Buckland, Swindon South MP officially open a new TBG Learning centre in Swindon, created to improve the skills of unemployed people in Swindon to help them get back into work.
TBG Learning Swindon is operating as part of the Governments Flagship Work Programme, to help the long term unemployed gain sustainable employment. Working in Partnership with Rehab JobFit they have already helped over 80 people back into work.
The official opening evening gave employers and stakeholders an opportunity to see the centre and meet TBG Learning staff. Guests were able to hear about how TBG Learning is improving the lives of people in Swindon, with the support of some of the town’s major employers. With the support of TBG Learning Swindon the unemployed can access a service that gets them in front of the right employers and into the right job.
James Manners, TBG Learning Swindon Business Manger said “It is important to realise everyone is different and everyone has skills that they can use in the workplace, we focus on what people can do rather than what they can’t. This means that their confidence improves quickly and we can match their skills to the right job for them, leading to sustainable employment”.
TBG Learning works with employers to match people to vacancies that the employers have, they can arrange a work trial if necessary and undertake recruitment sifting to make sure the employer gets the right person for the job. All this is free as it is funded by central government so more and more employers are getting involved and see TBG Learning as someone who can provide quality, motivated staff at no additional cost.
MP Robert Buckland said “I am pleased to see TBG Learning in Swindon and the difference they are making. Swindon currently has over 5000 unemployed people, so when I hear about the ambitious and motivated people they are working with I am confident that they will help many more people”.
“It is clear from this event that TBG Learning Swindon is one of the most reliable and effective partners for the Work Programme. I wish it well for the future”.
