3,000 individuals from around the country had been nominated for a Star Award. They had been nominated by their learners, colleagues and managers.

Two members of TBG Learning staff were nominated:

Abi Osho, nominated for the Outstanding Leadership Award and John Turner nominated for the Outstanding Basic Skills Practitioner Award.

The initial 3,000 nominees, who included people from FE colleges, community based providers, private sector providers, employers and adult educations institutions, were short-listed to 10 nominees per award category. Abi and John were both short-listed.

There were 18 award categories and two areas of recognition, the winner, and those who were highly commended.

Dame Kelly Holmes and Krishnan Guru-Murthy presented the awards.

Abi was highly commended for outstanding leadership , which she is extremely pleased about.

John's nominee was a learner, which speaks volumes, particularly as this was John's second nomination. Unfortunately John didn't receive an award on this occasion.

Both Abi and John said it was a great evening and they were extremely happy to have been short-listed out of thousands of people across the country.
