LEARNING CENTRE GIVEN TOP MARKS

A learning centre in Clacton has achieved top marks for its achievement rate. TBG Learning in Carnarvon Road has a Learndirect suite where banks of computers are available for people to improve their skills and gain qualifications doing online courses in computer skills, Maths, English and business management. TBG's qualified staff give guidance and now the Centre has received an accolade for the high percentage of people it helps to complete courses and gain qualifications.

93% of the 450 people who attended the Centre over a twelve month period in 2004/2005 completed their courses and 75% achieved their goal of a qualification. The Tendring Centre has been judged the best in the TBG Learning group, which runs 10 Centres nationally and its success was well above national average for similar training Centres.

"The Award is a credit to all the staff and tutors here, who are so dedicated to helping each individual", said Rob Fitt, Manager, TBG Learning, Tendring.

TBG Learning Tendring also won a 2 nd place Award for its success rate of 72% in progressing 16-18 year olds (previously unemployed and with low levels of qualifications) into Further Education, employment or Apprenticeship training. Its successful formula for the Entry to Employment (e2e) programme is founded on building e2e around the needs of the learners and removing any barriers they have previously experienced. Local MP Douglas Carswell praised the Centre on a visit last year.
