LONDONERS OFFERED LANGUAGE COURSES TO BOOST EMPLOYMENT
3rd March 2006
Unemployed adults are being offered the chance to improve their English on a free course run by independent training company TBG Learning at five centres in London. The course is part of a major programme financed by the European Social Fund that will help up to 16,000 people re-skill themselves and get into jobs in London.
The course, for those aged 19 and over, involves fourteen hours tuition per week for four months and is aimed at unemployed adults who have a basic grasp of English but need to develop their confidence. The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualification will improve spoken and written English skills and boost prospects for employment. Help will be given in searching for employment.
As well as ESOL, TBG Learning also runs courses in areas such as numeracy; literacy and computer skills and qualified tutors give individual guidance to everyone. Most courses are free because they are meeting Government priorities for improving skill levels.
The Life in the UK Citizenship Test can also be sat at TBG Learning centres and a good standard of English is required for this, together with an understanding of UK life.
Anyone interested should telephone or call a TBG Learning centre:
