Mayor sings praises of learners
Monday 3 October 2005
Lambeth Mayor Councillor Daphne Marchant has praised the efforts of over 70 local people who she presented with certificates at TBG Learning yesterday. For some of the young people and adult learners, this was their first ever qualification and the centre was congratulated by the Mayor for helping to boost people’s prospects of employment.
“I know how difficult it is but you have all proved you can see it through by having faith in your own worth and having faith in your tutors. I have seen TBG Learning go from strength to strength and this organisation is still on the way up”, said Councillor Marchant, Mayor of Lambeth.
The courses run by TBG Learning’s qualified tutors at the centre in Lyham Road, North Clapham, help improve qualification levels and confidence in areas such as English speaking and writing, maths, computer skills, business administration, basic electronics and painting and decorating. Over 3,000 young people and adults have completed courses at the centre in the last twelve months and all courses are free to learners because they are helping achieve much needed improvements in local skill levels.
Anyone interested should telephone 0800 374 237 or call in at the centre at 13-14 Ellerslie Industrial Estate, Lyham Road, Clapham SW2 5DZ.
TBG Learning is a long standing partner of Lambeth College and also has direct contracts with Learning and Skills Council, London Central, the organisation responsible for funding adult learning (other than University). The centre is also home to one of the national network of learndirect suites, providing Internet based learning with guidance from TBG tutors.
