TOP MARKS FOR ADULT LEARNING CENTRE

Friday 7 October 2005

An adult learning centre in Gravesend is celebrating after achieving top marks in an external quality assessment. City & Guilds, the leading vocational qualifications awarding body in the UK, gave the centre an ‘A’ marking following a rigorous examination of how the centre delivers its ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses.

The assessment looked at the quality of teaching and support provided to the learners as well as how well the centre runs the courses. Nationally, the number of centres who achieve the ‘A’ grade is very low.

“We are immensely pleased with the recognition that City & Guilds has given us and are proud of our tutors and support staff who have worked hard to gain this marking”, said Centre Manager Mark Baldock.

Beryl Green, the City & Guilds external verifier stated: “TBG Learning in Gravesend has done superbly well as we carry out all our assessments very thoroughly and expect only the highest standards to achieve an ‘A’ grade.”

Last year over 500 people undertook a course at TBG Learning's Centre in Gravesend High Street. Learners are able to undertake a range of courses from beginners to more advanced in computing, English and Maths. All courses lead to recognised qualifications and the centre enjoys a high success rate. Courses start every week and people work at their own pace towards the achievement of their chosen qualification.
