ROYAL MARINE FUN DAY
9th March 2006
Eight young learners from the Entry-to-Employment, (e2e), programme took part in an action packed fun day with the world famous Royal Marines, on 9th March 05.
The event organised by the Royal Navy to engaged with young people in local schools and volunteer organisation, took place at the Blackheath Training Centre.
The aim of the day was for the young people to learn about how the professional apply individual self-discipline, continuous training, teamwork and tenacity to achieve an objective.
All participants had to agree to give 100% effort to all activities, ensuring that a team sprit is fostered through the day. However, "fun" and "challenge" was the order of the day as was the continuous safety checks.

Our youngsters took part in many organised activities including, time constrained initiative tests, simulated rock-climbing exercises, unarmed combat and trilling platoon attack using low powered paint-ball guns. The Barking e2e learners reported, that they enjoyed the day and wanted to know when they can do it all over again, despite the aches and pains!
