NEW OPTION FOR 16 – 18 YEAR OLDS
Monday 15 August 2005
One of Derby’s most successful centres for adult learning, TBG Learning, is offering a new programme for 16 – 18 year old school leavers this autumn after winning new funding from Learning and Skills Council, Derby.
Called ‘entry 2 employment’ or e2e, unemployed 16 – 18 year-olds who left school with no qualifications are invited to join the programme which will help them gain valuable skills, new qualifications and self confidence. Work tasters with local employers, individual guidance and a number of ‘fun days’ such as a planned music day with a local DJ, are all part of e2e.
“e2e helps young people learn new work skills and boost their self esteem. Any school leavers who aren’t going onto college and haven’t found a job should come in and find out more”, says Liz Reeve, Manager, TBG Learning, Derbyshire.
The e2e programme has already achieved high success rates at a number of TBG Learning’s other centres, with over 70% of the young people progressing onto further education, employment or Apprenticeships on completion.
For further details call in at the centre at St Peters House, Gower Street Derby or telephone 01332 202 828.
Over 1,400 learners attend TBG Learning Derby for its wide range of free courses in computing and business administration, all of which lead to nationally recognised qualifications and enjoy a high success rate. There are also a number of tutor-led and computer based English language courses for speakers of other languages and a Learndirect computer suite with free online courses for anyone who wants to drop in on a casual basis.
