Anas Ahmed, who is 17 and from Bow, is currently studying towards his entry to employment (e2e) qualification, was chosen above all other learners for his “outstanding effort and commitment, and always encouraging those around him to participate to the best of their ability.” His prize was a Toshiba computer, donated by David Solomon, a class tutor.

At the awards ceremony all learners who have succeeded in gaining a qualification this year were presented with their certificates, and a medal.

Anas said of his award: "Being nominated is wonderful but winning is even better. In the morning I found out I had been nominated and in the afternoon I was crowned the winner! I was surprised and really happy but also thought I deserve this as I came to TBG to learn and I always put 100% in my work. The teachers are the best!!! They are always very, very, helpful. I am so glad I came on this course. I have learned a lot from them and am planning to learn a lot more."

Mohammed Hasnat raised £40 just by keeping absolutely silent for a whole 6 hours!Kim Keane, TBG Learning Tower Hamlets centre manager said: “We are happy to be here celebrating the achievements of those learners who have worked so hard and have succeeded in gaining a qualification. Anas is a pleasure to have in the centre and thoroughly deserves his award.”

E2e learners in the Tower Hamlets centre successfully raised more that £200 for the Children in Need appeal last Friday. Activities they took part in included spray painting their own T-shirts with Pudsey Bear, guessing ‘How Many Sweets in the Jar’, playing ‘Pin the Blindfold on Pudsey’, learning facepainting, and Henna Body Art techniques, and selling cake. Mohammed Hasnat raised £40 just by keeping absolutely silent for a whole 6 hours! Kim Keane added: This is certainly an outstanding achievement considering this is a small centre and all the learners are unemployed. Well done to all involved.”
