SPRING LEARNER MARION WINS DIGITAL CAMERA
Friday 22 July 2005
Marion Fowler, from Holland-on-sea was celebrating this month after winning a brand new digital camera in a “Spring Learner” competition.
Marion, aged 53, had completed several IT and maths courses at the government funded learndirect centre in Clacton which is run by TBG Learning in Carnarvon Road. She won her prize just in time for her summer holiday.
Marion has used her new skills to help her win a new job with Tendring District Council, working in their call centre.
She says, “I enjoy learning, I had got to the point where I couldn’t do anything without a computer. TBG Learning was really good for me as you can do it at your own pace, yet if you have a problem a tutor will quickly come over and give some help.”
Anyone can call in to the learndirect suite to improve their computer skills and gain qualifications. Courses are free and are for anyone from complete beginner to advanced levels.
TBG Learning also offers a wide range of more traditional tutor led courses that are free to learners because they are funded through the Learning and Skills Council and through TBG Learning’s other local partners who include Colchester Institute. All the courses lead to nationally recognised qualifications and are helping to achieve Government targets of raising skill and qualification levels.
