TBG Barking Centre – Healthy Living Awareness Month
Thursday 24th May 2006
The centre facilitated two awareness days in May 06, as part of healthy living promotion.
The initiative was supported by, Barking & Dagenham, and Havering PCTs through their sexually transmitted deceases prevention teams, (SMT).
Barking & Dagenham* continue to be, a borough with one of the highest incidence of teenage pregnancy in the country. (*Source- NHS)
Learners on the Entry-to-Employment, (e2e), programme are equally at high risk of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted deceases, through casual sexual activities.
SMT representative was delighted to be given the opportunity to highlight issues both medical and social, to the local young people, (learners). All learners participated in the feedback and were given additional resource packs with contact information. The SMT has given TBG Learning a commitment to make regular presentations to its e2e learners.
