£50 Xmas bonus for out of work school leavers

30th November 2007

A new option is on offer for teenagers who are just hanging around needing something to do. They are the ‘NEETS’ (Not in Education, Employment or Training) who have left school, not gone onto college and are out of work. Now there’s something new to help them get back on track, with a Christmas bonus on offer to tempt them in.

Training company TBG Learning has opened a new centre in Victoria Street, West Bromwich where it is offering NEET training and support for 16-18 year-olds.

There’s a financial incentive of £20 per week for attending regularly and a bonus of £50 for everybody who starts on Monday 10 December and completes three weeks of the programme before the Christmas break. The programme lasts for up to three months and TBG Learning will help the young person progress onto further training, college or employment.

During three mornings or afternoons a week they will improve skills in English, Maths and IT and have the chance of work experience. One to one support will be given to plan their next step.

“Any young person who’s bored, broke or just stuck at home not knowing what to do next should give this a try,” says TBG Learning West Midlands Manager, Jaz Kaur.

Drop into TBG Learning West Bromwich at Lanchard House (First Floor, Suite 2), Victoria Street, West Bromwich B70 8ER or telephone 0121 525 5498 for further details. Young people can also ask their Connexions adviser.

NEET training is financed by the Learning and Skills Council.
