Six students on the City and Guilds Level 1 Hair and Beauty course delivered by TBG Learning Colchester spent a day carrying out beauty treatments for visitors to the Coastal Academy Community Centre on Pathfields Road.
The event raised around £140 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Trudi Horsman, beauty tutor at TBG Learning, which has its Colchester centre at Portal House on Southway, said the event was a great success.
Trudi and her family have helped raise funds for University College Hospital in London for nearly 15 years in memory of her sister-in-law, Lynne Horsman, who sadly lost her battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1997.
“This is the first time we’ve held an event like this with our beauty learners and it went well giving the learners the opportunity to gain confidence and to work hard. The team did around 40 treatments ranging from nail care to make up which were all well received.
“The learners said it was fun and a great experience especially as they were raising money for a cause that is particularly close to my heart.
“We would like to thank everyone at the Coastal Academy Community Centre for welcoming us and being so kind.
“A big thank you also must go to the learners who worked so hard to make the event a great success and also my colleagues who helped out on the day.”
